![]() ![]() The two first modules were released in 2013 ( IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad) and 2016 ( IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow) and it was not before November 2017 that the series officially received its current name. IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles is a set of standalone video games and the third generation game in the IL-2 Sturmovik series of combat flight simulators. It'll take time to get takeoff and landing down, and every plane is different.2013 video game IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles The devs put a lot of work into their air and ground modeling, and it shows. ![]() Not sure if that is the case here, but it very well could be. ![]() The counter to that, by what I was taught by Rise of Flight, is to keep the engine running slowly enough that the plane won't get airborne but not down to full idle. I've noticed I spin out a lot towards the end which I'm assuming is due to airflow. Just use the rudder to keep straight and gently slow yourself down with the brakes. If you go off the runway don't worry, these planes were built for rough airfields. Even then it feels the plane goes too fast. ![]() The goal from my understanding is to go slow enough that you use the throttle to basically raise and lower yourself. I've been trying to go in as slow as possible but I still bounce. It's not easy but after a bit you get used to it. Adding a bit of foward stick will pop your plane up onto the front wheels and give you a good view once you have enough speed to pop, just be gentle or you'll pop too far foward and break your prop. If you're lucky you'll find a cloud that you can try to use as a guide to stay straight, otherwise it's looking out a side window. The biggest thing that helps me is to slowly roll the throttle up and slowly counter torque with the rudder. Takeoff and landing is harder in this sim than any other I've played, well with the exception of Rise of Flight. ![]()
